This is an article in the Western Catalyst from early 1970. The Catalyst was an independent student-owned and operated newspaper serving the Western Illinois University community.
In this article, Brigadier General Howard T. Markey is quoted as saying, "I tell you now that in 1980 a colony will live on the moon, and Air National Guardsmen and former Air National Guardsmen will be among those colonists, as they are among the astronauts today.”
While it seems like a very silly prophecy to us now, he apparently remarked in 1959 that men would be on the moon in ten years, and so they were—so in 1970, this was a prediction to take seriously!
